We have returned home from New York camp and after disecting the day completely my husband and I have decided the most profound gift was that those surfers are willing to make a strong emotional connection with children that even some of their only family members are not willing to make. We thank you so much because the surfing doesn't just help Elias (our fearless five year old with Autism) but it helps his father, Rabbit and his brother, Isaiah, and his mother, me. Thank you.

Thanks for the oppertunity to have my son surf. He was to afraid to do it this year but we will try again next year. It was wonderful to see all the other children having such a great time and I loved being a part of all of it. I had my other two children with me and they also truly loved being there seeing how much fun the other children were having. Please keep us posted on next years date. Thanks again for the for sharing your world with us. All our love!!!!

Pat and Joe Cunningham and Kelly too! |
Thank you to all the volunteers at surfers healing for giving our daughter Kelly the experience of surfing at Long Beach, and teaching her that she can do anything if she tries. We were all so impressed by your kindness, knowledge, smiles and skill today. You are all an amazing group of saints. Kelly was hesitant, as always, but all smiles as she watched herself on tape tonight. We hope to see you next year! A big hug from all of us. Thank you.

We are so thankful, and grateful to all your volunteers, the special wonderful people who gave Kelly a chance to know that she could succeed at surfing. Although she was hesitant entering the surf of Long beach, as she watched the video of herself tonight, she was all smiles. We can't thank you enough for the opportunity. We were all so impressed by your compassion, knowledge, skill and caring with all the kids today. Thank you for giving Kelly such a special memory, and we will see you next year!! Big hugs from all of us.

My ten year old non verbal son David wrote this poem to thank you for his wonderful day of surfing in San Diego here it is:

Thank You Surfer Boys
by David Teplitz

I am a boy.
A notalker boy.
A dreaming notalker boy.

I dreamt of riding the indigo waves of the stunning sea.
You made it be surfer boys.
I was high and free and powerful and peaceful.
You made it be surfer boys.
I felt the oneness with water.
You made it be surfer boys.

You gave the gift of surfing but even more you
loved ignored people
gave flight to those who were stuck
freed those trapped in their bodies
gave peace and joy.

I am a dreaming notalker SURFER boy.

Thank you surfer boys.

Thank you so much for the wonderful day at Virginia Beach. Even though it was Sean's first visit to the ocean and he was afraid to ride, we were glad we came. Thank you for giving Angelica a ride. What a thrill! Hope to see you again next year. We are all very grateful.
